Firearm Missing, Suspect Captured In Failed Armed Robbery: Fairfax County PD

The attempted robbery of juveniles in Fairfax County didn't reap any rewards for an Alexandria man, but it did for the police, who say they got their suspect.

Zelalem Zewde, 21, approached two juveniles near the Gum Springs Community Center around 5:35 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, county police said.

Zewde pulled out a firearm and demanded all of their valuables, but being that they didn't have any, nothing was taken, police said.

The suspect ran toward Fordson Road and police saturated the area. Zewde was found by officers on Holland Road and charged with one count of Attempted Armed Robbery and one count of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

The firearm was not recovered, and Zewde is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
